Collège Van Gogh,
(77) Mitry-Mory
The architect in charge of the new Mitry-Mory secondary school sought a strong sign to enhance the location of his school, in centre of an ordinary town. He decided to place a clock at the top of a high column and, in order to break away from classicism, to design it so as to turn and swivel at the desire of the winds, which is what makes it truly original.
In order to increase its legibility, the number design is simple, very pure in form, in contrasted colours.
So, Huchez manufactured this dual-face clock, turning around a vertical axis with the hands, collectorings and brushes were housed inside the caisson in order to drive the electric current.
This outdoor clock, like the indoor clocks of the school, is controlled by a radio-synchronized pilot clock.
